
VENCE
Vence, a small village of 18.000 inhabitants, is located in southern France, at the center of the Côte d'Azur between Nice and Cannes. Its location allows you to combine the peace and resting in Provence with the urban lifestyle of the two regional capitals. Vence's height above sea level (325 meters) opens a magnificent view over the coast. The North of Vence is protected by the Italian branch of the Alps. It is very easy to reach the sea.
The medieval village has an embracing charm. Until the 18th century, Vence was important regionally because of its 17th century cathedral. among the main attractions are the Chapelle du Saint-Marie du Rosaire designed by the famous French painter Matisse, and the St. Martin castle. St.Paul-de Vence, the village of artists where also Chagall used to live, can be reached after a 45-minutes foot walk.
Vence is famous for its large number of fountains with drinking water. There are many shops, supermarkets, banks, and a wide range of charming restaurants. On the central plaza "Le Grand Jardin" there are many activities: a daily market, pétanque (i.e. the French boules game), music festivals, etc.
HOLIDAY APARTMENTS
The three apartments are part of the ancient town wall. The Provence-style of the 14th century house has been preserved when it was renovated. The rooms give on an impressive valley with a lush mediterranean fauna as well as on the Matisse Chapel, the St.Martin's castle and, when the sky is high, the Italian Alps. The apartments are restful and nevertheless only a few footsteps away from the center of the village.
